Whether I played Magnificent Multiplication back in the 80’s or I played it yesterday, it has the same effect on my students as it had for me. I loved it then, and they love it as well. The rhythms and the rhymes are awesome. First, I dusted off the vinyl for my son when he was having trouble learning his multiplication facts, and later I took it to work where I teach special education students. Retaining information such as multiplication facts is always challenging for them. So, that’s why I decided to bring out my vinyl that I saved since I was 9 years old. However, the record was scratched in a few places and I was not able to play every song. That’s when I went on a mission to find Chip Fields’ greatest hit on Amazon.
I was so ecstatic that I found it. I couldn’t wait to get back to work to play it for my students, incorporated into the day, through my transition times. Students not only caught on fast but they love it just like I do. Best of all, I’ve had a great increase in the number of students that actually know their multiplication facts automatically. So, my mom who is 86 now thanks you for helping me then, and I thank Wise Owl for allowing me to travel back in time and bring Magnificent Multiplication to our future.
